What? Shopping in Africa? You bet! You'll be surprised how many nice things you can find here!
Every tourist loves to take a wood carving or soap stone nini back home, as a gift or to remind yourself of sunny Western Kenya during the long winters. The craft stalls near the Kisumu Museum are definitely one of the places to buy things. From small to (very) large, wood to soap stone, there is for everybody something. Masaai blankets, printed fabrics (including kanga's), woven baskets or hand bags and much more. The first asking price of the vendor is usually three to four times higher than his lowest price, so you are in for some stiff bargaining!
